VALBEC workshop
Can We Help Hope Happen For Students of Adult Education?
“How we see the future determines how we behave today” Lopez
How might teachers of Adult Education positively impact the lives of those they teach, sharing strategies for resilience, optimism, and the mindsets needed for success?
Based on the latest research from Positive Psychology and Neuroscience this workshop will help teachers of Adult Education learn evidence-based strategies to build wellbeing for themselves and their students, creating a culture of openness and optimism in their classroom environments & maximising outcomes for vulnerable students.
This workshop will fuse wellbeing science with strategies from Dr Ruby Payne (Bridges out of Poverty) to ensure what’s being taught can be applied equally well with students who experience poverty, trauma or vulnerability.
Here’s what will be covered in the half day session;
• How to recognise and cultivate strengths in your students and help them connect with their unique set of strengths, to maximise their learning.
• How to harness the power of positive emotions for learning, connecting, creating and relating
• An understanding how the brain functions and how to use this to your advantage.
• Unlock the magic of growth mindsets for yourself and your students
• How Hope theory might help
• Why students from poverty might think and behave differently
• How to support students to “get ahead”, not just “get by”
• Reconsider the role of relationships and the power of positivity resonance.
• How to optimise outcomes for students trapped in the tyranny of survival
This workshop will provide practical strategies you can immediately apply as a teacher, in your organisation, or classroom. Marie delivers sessions that are engaging, interactive and transformative.
